Sir Ian McKellen, who has frequently acted in plays under the prestigious banner of the Royal Shakespeare Company, is coming to Mumbai to commemorate the playwright’s 400th death anniversary this year.

The Tony Award-winning English actor will have a formal discussion with Bollywood star Aamir Khan at a city event later this month. The two will discuss cinema and Shakespeare’s legacy.

“It will be an interactive and highly enriching session for the audience,” says an insider, adding, “Aamir is also a big admirer of Shakespeare’s works. He is looking forward to having a detailed discussion with McKellen, who is considered an authority on the writer’s works.”
McKellen, who is known for his roles in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy (as Gandalf) and The X-Men film seres (as Magneto), is a recipient of a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild award. He also has two Academy Award nominations, four BAFTA nominations and five Emmy Award nominations.
