After X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, Sharad Kelkar to dub for Star Trek

After dubbing for many hit Hollywood and regional films, Sharad Kelkar has dubbed for yet another Hollywood film, Star Trek Beyond.

For an actor, his looks and voice help him stand out in a crowd. And Sharad Kelkar is known for his screen presence and his baritone voice. Sharad, who has proved his acting prowess in films such as Lai Bhaari (2014), Goliyon Ki Raasleela -- Ram Leela (2013) and Hero (2015), has also lent his voice to characters in the Hindi-dubbed versions of Hollywood films such as X-Men: Apocalypse, Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014) and Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014).

Actor Sharad Kelkar, who is known for his screen presence and baritone, enjoys lending his voice for various characters in Hollywood and regional films.

Last year, he dubbed for the Hindi version of director SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), too. Now, the actor has signed up for another Hollywood fantasy project that stars Chris Pine and Zoe Saldanha.

Sharad says, “I like dubbing as although I am not acting in the movie, I still feel like a part of the film.” He loves the fact that he gets a chance to play different characters while dubbing. He adds, “If I am dubbing for a villain or a hero, I have to modulate my voice accordingly. Besides, characters also have different ways of speaking. One has to retain that in the dubbed version as well.”

Sharad feels he learns a lot by dubbing, as it gives him an opportunity to improve his acting skills. “It’s also entertaining for me. I started this as a hobby, but I learnt that dubbing is an important tool in acting. Amitabh Bachchan once said that no matter how good the acting is on the film, an actor can always improve a scene while dubbing. So, dubbing is a crucial part of film-making.”
