Her face can launch a million products. Her eyes can make a million hearts miss a beat. She is the queen of hearts and is often dubbed the “most beautiful woman in the world”. And if her latest film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, is anything to go by, she can hog the limelight even as the second heroine. She is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The actor graced the 49th World Congress on Dance Research in Mumbai on Wednesday where she posed with dancer Lata Surendra. Watch her smile and pose and what is impossible to ignore is her star power.

She has ruled our hearts for 22 years now and shows no signs of stopping. As Miss World 1994, she was among the most recognisable Indian faces globally.

The deal with Aishwarya is that even when she was not at her best (as she was, at least, in the looks department) post her pregnancy, she walked away with admiration for being okay with her postpartum fat. The world had to bow to that.

Aishwarya made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s 1997 Tamil film Iruvar where she was paired opposite that powerhouse performer Mohanlal. And she managed to stand out. No mean feat for a newcomer.

Some of her most memorable performances are Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Devdas (2002), Tamil romance Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000), Bengali film Chokher Bali (2003), British drama film Provoked (2006), Dhoom 2 (2006), the historical romance Jodhaa Akbar (2008) and the science fiction film Enthiran (2010).
