Did you know a film on Pappi from Tanu Weds Manu was on the cards?

Actor Deepak Dobriyal reveals that though he won’t play his funny character of Pappi in Tanu Weds Manu 3 (if it’s ever made), there were discussions to make a separate film about his life.

Deepak Dobriyal’s hilarious portrayal of desperate-to-get married Pappi in Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel in 2015 won him a lot of praise. The actor, however, says that he is fed up of the character.

He says, “I will never do this role again. I can do a sequel, but not the third part, ever. It’s because you start getting over-confident that ‘yeh toh maine kiya hua hai’, and then you aren’t able to explore anything else. You get stuck to it.”

He emphasises on the need to take up different roles, saying, “I reject monotonous roles. There have been times when I have taken up a film only for money. But working in them was creatively satisfying too, and the makers gave respect too, like Sooraj [Barjatya] ji [for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo; 2015]... paisa bhi theek tha aur role bhi.”
