Are you a friggatriskaidekaphobic? As Friday, the 13th, comes calling, urban legend about the day of horrors has tongues wagging yet again. And filmmakers are happy to cash in on the fear factor.
Producer Sanjay Alhuwalia has decided to release his horror film, Help, starring Bobby Deol and Mugdha Godse, today. “Not many Hindi horror films have made it to theatres on Friday the 13th, so we thought, why not be the first.
The theme of the film is in sync with the day, meant for dark and evil,” says Ahluwalia. The other Bollywood movie set to release today is Aamir Khan’s production, Peepli Live.
But, director Anusha Rizvi says she is not bothered with the date: “I think the concept of ‘Friday the 13th’ is funny, and I am not at apprehensive of anything untoward.”
Astrologers, however, warn of the bad omen associated with the day.
“Peepli Live will get critical acclaim, but it would have done better had it opened yesterday. Help will need even more help,” predicts astrologer Sanjay B Jumaani. Tarot reader Manisha Kaushik says, “In tarot, the 13th card in the Major Arcana is the Death Card.
It sounds scary, but it is not that bad. In numerology, the number 13 is said to be lucky for some and unlucky for others,” she adds. Incidentally, two films that hit theatres on Friday the 13th — Aao Wish Karein and Tum Mile — failed to make waves at the box office.
