Actor Hema Malini’s popularity transcends all boundaries. Not just India, she has fans all over the world, and this was evident when she was honoured at the 4th Indian Film Festival of Russia (IFFR). Hema was pleasantly surprised to see that people are still crazy about her films in Russia, especially her 1972 double-role film Seeta Aur Geeta.

Responding to the immense love she received, the 68-year old actor says, “People in Russia are still crazy about this film. They pronounce it Zeeta Aur Geeta as they cannot pronounce Seeta Aur Geeta! (laughs). I assume that if I make a sequel of the film even after all these 40 years, my Russian fans will be the first ones to go and watch it.”
Director Madhur Bhandarkar was present at the occasion too. While a troupe of Russian dancers danced to a medley of her film songs, Hema was also interviewed by Russia’s top television channel Russia-1. She says, “The troupe dancers performed on my popular film tracks. I also met filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar at the event and he shared his views on my films. I thank everyone for showering such love on me.”
