How Vishal Bhardwaj named his latest film

Director Vishal Bhardwaj has come up with an unusual title for his film Matru Bijli Ka Mandola. And lyricist Javed Akhtar too insisted that Vishal retain the title of the film. Vishal has often been known for thinking out of the box.

Ask how it was conceptualised and director Bhardwaj says, "There is no specific reason for the title of my films to be different. While I was travelling to Haryana I saw this eatery called Matru, I liked the name and had kept it in mind. There is a place called Mandola in Haryana and I decided to base the story of my film in Mandola. Since beginning I had liked this name Bijli. I always felt that women were like lightening hence I decided to name my heroine Bijli in the film. This is how the title came about.” Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, also features Pankaj Kapur, Arya Babbar and Shabana Azmi, releases on January 11.
