I can’t play a sensuous character for the sake of it: Shraddha Kapoor

Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor says she doesn’t mind being called the ‘girl next door.’ The actor adds that she likes connecting with her fans through social media.

Although Shraddha Kapoor earned the title of ‘the girl next door’ with films such as Aashiqui 2 (2013), ABCD 2 (2015) and Ek Villain (2014), she surprised audiences by playing a completely different, action-hungry character in Baaghi. But the actor maintains that she doesn’t mind being associated with the ‘girl next door’ trope.

“In fact, I feel it’s actually one of the most difficult roles to pull off. I feel happy when people call me that. However, at the same time, I would like to do different kind of roles as well.”

Like most actors, Shraddha is quite active on Instagram. The actor frequently posts selfies, often without make up. The ABCD 2 actor says that she likes to show people this side of her. “One can see me with make up on the big screen anyway. Going without it is a part of me that I like to share. By uploading pictures, I feel like I am able to share something with my fans. This practice makes me feel like I have a direct connection with them,” she says.

Shraddha is also a talented singer, and has lent her voice to tracks in her latest film. “There were challenges in terms of the singing and performing. Every film comes with its own set of challenges and demands. Also, I feel that every movie is like a debut for an actor. While I have learnt a lot with each project, I still have a lot to learn,” the Haider (2014) actor says.
