I was homeless for a year, says ABCD actor Lauren Gottlieb

Actor Lauren Gottlieb talks about the struggle she had to face in trying to get a permanent place to stay in Mumbai.

Actor Lauren Gottlieb, who recently bought a house in Mumbai, says she had to face a lot of hurdles before she found her dream home. “I was trying to get a place since some time now, but nothing seemed to work out. I always knew that it wouldn’t be easy but never thought that it will be so difficult. During my first year here, I came in second at Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa and there were a lot of people who knew me. And that had it’s drawbacks as well. People kept thinking that I would throw Bollywood parties. I have never spoken about this to anyone earlier, but I was homeless during my first year here and stayed with my friends,” says Lauren.

“I am so happy with my house now. I am going to create a dance space at my new place,” she adds.

The 28-year-old, who is from Scottsdale, Arizona, says that it has always been challenging for her to stay away from home, but this has got easier over the years. “It has been crazy being away from home. I don’t know how I would have done this when I was younger. Also, with so many apps available now, it’s become easier. I can talk to them all the time. The first two years here, my heart felt broken. I never felt that I fit in here,” she says.

Actor Lauren Gottlieb will be mentoring budding dancers for her new web series.

The actor will also be part of a web series, where she gets to mentor budding dancers. “I am excited about this project. This is like a digital talent hunt and it’s incredibly beautiful to see a child find his passion. I think this show will also help change the mindset of many parents who feel that dancing can’t be a career. That’s not true, I have such a great career only because of my dancing,” she says.
