Tough and no-nonsense, Priyanka Chopra as a female cop in Gangaajal 2 - or Jai Gangaajal as it has been renamed- is Bollywood's new angry young woman. The actor tweeted the first poster of the Prakash Jha film to rave reviews from film frat and fans alike.
Her clenched jaw, her tear-stained eyes and her tough demeanour have all touched the chord with fans. Priyanka plays a police officer Abha Mathur who takes on powerful and influential men in her district. A sequel to Prakash Jha's Gangaajal starring Ajay Devgn, this film will have a similar trajectory.
Priyanka is seen in a police officer's uniform and the actor has earlier said how she feels it is an important film. "I am playing a cop. It is a very special film, not because of the role. I am playing what Ajay Devgn played in the first part. It is just that the issue has changed. We are highlighting corruption, land mafia, farmer suicides and how people are forced to kill themselves. It is a great story. Prakash Jha is the best person to tell this -phenomenal story. He is very educated. Women cops are not taken seriously ... It is a relevant film," she had said.
