Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel has asked the National Commission for Women why it didn’t lend support to the actor when she had registered a complaint against ‘a big star’, but is instead focussing on a meme shared by Vivek Oberoi. Oberoi has since deleted the controversial tweet, after it received widespread condemnation by members of the film and media industry, and the NCW.

Sonam Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut were both in Cannes recently.

Rangoli wrote on Twitter Monday, “Fraud @IndiaMeToo & @NCWIndia has caused death f feminism in India, accused working everywhere and roaming freely, chauvinism and gender bias displayed openly and here for a stupid joke they come crawling like insects as if anybody cares about such a sham NCW, please take a seat.”

Vivek’s now deleted tweet, in which he had shared a meme created by someone else, showed his ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai in three panels, first with her ex-boyfriend Salman Khan, then with him, and in the third with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and their child Aaradhya. The tweet was met with harsh criticism, including by actor Sonam Kapoor, who called it ‘disgusting and classless’. Vivek on Monday had retaliated to Sonam’s comments by advising her to not overact in films, and to not overreact on social media.

Rangoli’s third tweet seemingly called out the ‘women hater women’ who have ‘a problem against other women, simply because they are a woman.’ She wrote, “Much more scary and damaging than feudal and chauvinist men are these women hater women...bhed ki khaal mein bhediye (wolves in sheep’s clothing)...jealous and b*tchy women who have problem with other woman, simply cause they also happen to be a woman, time to be very careful spot such insects & expose them.”

Rangoli in the recent past has instigated social media attacks on the likes of actor Alia Bhatt and her parents, Soni Razdan and Mahesh Bhatt, actor Hrithik Roshan, Shabana Azmi, Richa Chadha and others. Aishwarya, Sonam and Kangana were all at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, although it is unclear if their paths crossed.
