Never thought I’d work in Bollywood: Lauren Gottlieb

American dance reality show star Lauren Gottlieb, who is playing a lead role in choreographer-turned-director Remo D’Souza’s ambitious 3D dance film Anybody Can Dance (ABCD) produced by UTV Motion Pictures, never thought she would be a part of Bollywood.

However, the dancer claims to have had an enriching time on the shoot alongside Indian dancing icon Prabhu Deva. “Cinema has always been one of the biggest goals in my career. I’ve tapped into that world in Hollywood but never in my wildest imagination had I thought I’d get the chance to join Bollywood,” Lauren says.

Given that dance is her forte, Lauren started to take an interest in Bollywood after being awed by Hrithik Roshan’s dance moves. “It’s evident how big the film industry is here. I first heard about Hrithik years ago and fell in love with his style. I’d also love to work with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in a film together. People say it’s kind of impossible because they have some tension going, but I would love to see them get together for a film with me,” says Lauren.

The TV star admits that she wasn’t conversant with Indian culture until she landed here to work for ABCD. However, it’s been smooth sailing for her at the shoot. “Remo, Prabhu Deva and I have both, choreographing and directing, in common which is why, creatively, I feel like we have been on the same page since day one,” says Lauren, who is also taking Hindi classes to become fluent in the language. She adds, “I have a coach for my lines, but even just conversing with the cast and crew on set has been good training.”
