Earlier this year, choreographer-director Remo D’souza announced that he will be producing a film that will star choreographers-turned-actors Shakti Mohan and Salman Yusuff Khan. It will be directed by Stanley D’Costa.
Now, Remo is set to co-produce another movie called Nawabzaade . This one will also feature choreographers-turned-actors — Raghav Juyal, Punit Pathak and Dharmesh Yelande. Though he is currently busy with other directorial ventures, Remo wanted to give the three artistes a good push in Bollywood.
Remo says, “I did two films with the three of them — ABCD: Any Body Can Dance (2013) and ABCD 2 (2015). I saw they had a lot more talent [than what was shown on the screen]. I want them to grow, so a film featuring just the three of them will be apt. My friend Jayesh Pradhan, who has been working with me since I began my career, will direct this film.”
Remo knows that producing movies is a big decision. So, since he has “a lot going on”, he wants other people, who have worked with him before, “to take over certain projects”. However, Remo plans to be a “hands-on producer”. His wife, Lizelle D’Souza, will handle his production ventures. “The story of this film won’t be dance-oriented. But there will be dance sequences in the movie. I have never handled a subject like this before, so it will be new for all of us,” says Remo.
