Monday marks the fifth death anniversary of celebrated lyricist Shahryar.

Born as Akhlaq Mohammad Khan in 1936, the lyricist went on to become one of the most sought-after Urdu poets of his times. Khan drew national fame as a lyricist for the words he penned in films like Gaman, Umrao Jaan and Anjuman.
The celebrated lyricist passed away in 2012 after a protracted illness at 76.
