Shekhar Suman to turn director for son

Adhyayan Suman is now set to act in a film to be directed by his father Shekhar Suman. Tentatively titled Heartbeat, Shekhar’s directorial debut is a remake of the Hayden Christensen-Jessica Alba starrer Hollywood hit, Awake.

“We are in constant touch with The Weinstein Company to buy the remake rights of the film because we don’t want any copyright issues later. But it won’t be an exact copy because the situations and characters are going to be altered,” says Adhyayan.

Although Shekhar will be producing the film too, he is in talks with a few big companies to partner with.

Adhyayan says, "My mother watched the film and was blown away. She made my father see it too. At that time, I wasn’t in Mumbai. So they would repeatedly call me and say, ‘Come back, we have got a great film for you.’ I was shocked to see an engaging film like Awake so we immediately decided to take up the story."

“Being directed by my father is going to be an interesting experience. I hope to live up to his high expectations. May be, I will call him sir on the sets,” he laughs.

Adhyayan’s hands are full as he is also set to act in the film remake of the television show Dekh Bhai Dekh in which he will play Vishal Diwan, son of Sameer Diwan, which was played by his father in the show. “It’s a huge brand and it puts a lot of pressure on me,” says Adhyayan, who will also be seen in Vishal Varma’s The Outsider, which is about a modern-day Gautam Buddha.
