Director Anand L Rai, who has directed Sonam Kapoor in his upcoming film, Raanjhanna, feels she is underutilised as an actress.

Rai, of Tanu Weds Manu fame, has teamed up with southern star Dhanush and Sonam for Raanjhanaa.

"I think Sonam is under-utilised. The kind of performance she has given in this film is amazing. The way she was involved with the film was tremendous. Wait and watch Sonam," Rai told .

Sonam, daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, made her debut with Saawariya in 2007 which did not do well at the box office. After a string of unsuccessful films including Thank You, Mausam and Players, she is now gearing up for Raanjhanaa, where she will be seen essaying the role of a girl-next-door.

The 27-year-old has big projects like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Khoobsurat remake, besides a YRF untitled film opposite Ayushmann Khurrana.

The world may be familiar with Sonam's fashionista side, but the director reveals that in reality she is a simple girl.
