Tevar’s failure made Arjun question himself

Actor Arjun Kapoor says the failure of his film Tevar taught him to follow his instincts.

In his four years in the film industry, Arjun Kapoor has tasted success and failure but it was not until last year after Tevar’s release that he learnt some important lessons in his life.

“For some films you are prepared to face failure while with the others you get surprised. The biggest setback that took a toll on me was Tevar. Firstly, because of the effort that I put in, secondly, because it was a home production. It happened at a point in my career when I believed that I am going to be here in the film industry,” says Kapoor, who debuted with Ishaqzaade(2012).

Tevar, which was directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, has definitely taught the actor some important life lessons.

“It taught me one thing. It taught me to follow my instinct and gut even more than earlier. It was more like a film where I said ‘ok let us do an action film’ and went out looking for an action film rather than the film coming to me. I definitely believe now that I will not go running and chasing materialistic things. I don’t want to set a plan. I would rather go with the flow. It is always better to be surprised by the stuff that comes to you instead of you going searching for it,” he says.

The actor, who was last seen in Ki & Ka (2016) adds, “I started believing that I am beginning to settle into being an actor and getting opportunities to work. Suddenly, you give a flop like that and you are questioning yourself . Will I have to start from scratch? Will I have to rework on things? Will I have to work on myself even more?”
