Born as Harpreet Singh, he prefers to be called ‘Harp Farmer’. This, he says, is for two reasons: One, he relates himself to the musical instrument harp and second, because of his continuous habit of ‘harping’ (to talk or write persistently on a particular topic).

This, he says, is for two reasons: One, he relates himself to the musical instrument harp and second, because of his continuous habit of ‘harping’ (to talk or write persistently on a particular topic). The second part of the name comes from the pride that Harp feels as a farmer, which also makes him relate better to his first love — his home state.

In fact, it was Harp’s love for Punjab that turned him into a photographer from a software engineer. So, he now captures the myriad images of Punjab — the fields, farmers, rivers and landscape — and slots them under his label, Colors of Panjaab. Harp also has a Facebook page of the same name, which the self-taught photographer created two years ago after being gifted a Canon 550D by his brother. After two years as a professional photographer, Harp will now put up a photo exhibition in Canada.

He also shot Punjabi singer Sharry Maan’s portfolio for his album Aate Di Chiri, which gained him a lot of appreciation. Harp recently expanded his label to create Colors of Panjaab Pvt Ltd, under which he wishes to promote young Punjabi singers. So far, he has already shot two videos for Raj Kakra’s album Dilbaryian and Ikki Pannu’s solo track. Harp announces he will soon launch upcoming singer Balwinder Singh Laddi, known popularly as ‘faqeer’.
