Sensex continues slide, sheds 1.2%

The 30-stock index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday continued its slide and shed 200 points or 1.2% to close at 16162 due to uncertainty surrounding the US and Europe.

The 30-stock index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday continued its slide and shed 200 points or 1.2% to close at 16162 due to uncertainty surrounding the US and Europe.

The broader Nifty of the National Stock Exchange too lost 55.9 points to touch 4,867.75 points on Friday.

The falling rupee also added to the troubles as it touched a 28-month low of Rs 49.9 against the US dollar.

Metals and consumer durables stocks were the biggest losers on Friday and shed 2.28% and 1.84% respectively.
