India's consumer price index (CPI) rose 9.82 per cent in September from a year earlier, slower than August's annual rise of 9.88 percent, government data showed on Friday.

The consumer price index for industrial workers rose 1 point to 179 points in September.

India's wholesale price-based inflation, which is more closely watched as it covers a higher number of products, rose to 8.62 percent in September.
