The TVS group, one of southern India's largest conglomerations, is readying for a generational shift at the helm with the induction of Sudarshan Venu into the board of group firm Sundaram Clayton Ltd (SCL). SCL is the holding company of India's second-largest two wheeler manufacturer TVS Motors.
Sudarshan's elder sister Lakshmi Venu was also inducted as a board member of SCL a couple of years ago after she trained through different levels of TVS Motors.The 22-year old Sudarshan has interned with the different deparments of the manufacturing company. He was trained on the job in the die casting division of SCL and also in TVS Motor Company Ltd.
Lakshmi Venu, had worked at TVS Motor's Hosur factory before joining as a board member. Incidentally, she is married to Rohan Murthy, son of NR Narayana Murthy, founder-chairman of Infosys Technologies.
Sudarshan has a mechanical engineering and economics degree from the Wharton School of Pennsylvania university. He has alos completed his Masters in international technology management from the Warwick Manufacturing Group, the academic department of the University of Warwick in the UK.

{{/usCountry}}None of the family members, Sudarshan, Venu Srinivasan or his wife Mallika Srinivasan, who is the also the vice chairman of Tractors and Farm Equipment, were available for comment after a terse announcement from the company.
"Sudarshan is undergoing the process of training and grooming for higher responsibilities in the company and group companies handles," said H Lakshmana, executive director, Sundaram Clayton Ltd.
At the moment, no specific area or assignment was shortlisted for Sudarshan, who will be put through different departments and areas, Lakshmana told HT.
