Hero MotoCorp Files Patent for Vida VXZ Electric Bike in India

Hero MotoCorp's design patent for the Vida VXZ suggests readiness for production in the electric motorcycle market.

Updated on: Jan 19, 2026, 10:44:35 IST

Hero MotoCorp has taken another clear step toward entering the electric motorcycle space with the design patent of what appears to be the production-ready Vida VXZ in India. The patent filing hints that the project has moved well beyond the concept phase and that the company is preparing for a real-world launch in the near future.

The Vida VXZ was first shown as a concept at EICMA, where it marked a shift in Hero’s EV strategy from scooters to larger, more performance-focused electric two-wheelers. This motorcycle is being developed alongside Zero Motorcycles, but the patent drawings suggest it is not a rebadged model. Instead, it looks like a ground-up design tailored for Hero’s future electric lineup.

Based on the sketches, the VXZ adopts a sporty, streetfighter-style stance. Sharp body panels, a compact LED headlamp, upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock point toward a focus on handling. Disc brakes are visible at both ends, and Hero appears to have opted for a belt drive, which should help keep maintenance low while improving refinement. There should be a dual-channel anti-lock braking system present to ensure that the tyres do not slip when the road conditions are wet or under hard braking. The design also looks quite smart, so the VXZ should have decent road presence as well.

While Hero MotoCorp has not revealed technical details or a timeline yet, filing a design patent in India usually signals that the project is progressing toward production. If things move as expected, the Vida VXZ could mark Hero’s entry into a new and more premium chapter of its electric journey.
