Volkswagen has laid out its plans for 2026, confirming that it will launch 5 new products for the Indian market. The upcoming cars will span sedan, SUV, and hatchback body styles, leaning towards the premium end of the market. The first of the lot to reach our shores will be the recently unveiled Tayron R-Line. While the carmaker has yet to confirm the remaining four spots, its teaser image shows the silhouettes under wraps, fuelling speculations as to what may come. Here’s a look at the upcoming Volkswagen cars we expect may land in India:
Volkswagen Taigun facelift
The upcoming Taigun facelift will follow in the footsteps of the new Skoda Kushaq, bringing a refreshed exterior alongside interior and tech upgrades. The SUV will be updated with sleeker LEDs, a new single-piece front grille, and revised bumpers all around. On the feature front, updates are expected to culminate in a larger digital cockpit for the top trims, while the entry-level models get a smaller unit. Premium features such as a panoramic sunroof and ADAS are expected to make their way into the new Taigun, alongside an 8-speed TCA for the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Volkswagen Virtus facelift

The Virtus facelift will follow suit with revised front and rear fascias and new alloy designs, while the silhouette at large remains unchanged. The interior and tech suite should align with that of the updated Taigun, including the ADAS package. The powertrain lineup is not expected to change, currently including a 1.5-litre NA petrol and a 1.0-litre TSI petrol. The 8-speed TCA is again expected to make its way to the turbo-petrol engine.

Volkswagen Golf GTI new batch

The OEM is now reportedly bringing over a second batch owing to strong demand. What’s interesting is that the hot hatch could carry more features this time around. The Golf GTI derives 245 bhp and 370 Nm of torque from its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DSG that sends power forward.
Volkswagen Tera
Volkswagen is expected to re-enter the sub-4m space with the launch of the Tera SUV. The Volkswagen Tera will serve the same role that Skoda’s Kylaq currently does on our shores, succeeding the Polo as the next sub-compact offering from the German carmaker. Built on the same platform as the Kylaq, it is expected to be fitted with the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine, wrapped under Volkswagen’s global design language. At the time of launch, it will enter a highly-competitive space, going up against the likes of the Kia Sonet and the Maruti Fronx.
