Cong-turned-Akali leader appointed PRTC chairman

More than two months after switching over to the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) from the Congress, former MLA Avtar Singh Brar was on Thursday rewarded with the post of chairman of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) as chief minister Parkash Singh Badal announced the appointments of 10 chairpersons of various boards and corporations.

More than two months after switching over to the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) from the Congress, former MLA Avtar Singh Brar was on Thursday rewarded with the post of chairman of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) as chief minister Parkash Singh Badal announced the appointments of 10 chairpersons of various boards and corporations.

Former MLA Joginder Pal Jain, who had also joined the SAD after resigning as a Congress MLA last year, has been re-appointed chairman of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation.

Delhi-based Badal loyalist Avtar Singh Hit has been appointed chairman of the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC).

The other newly-appointed chairpersons include Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Dyaal Singh Kolianwali (Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation), former MLA Parkash Singh Bhatti (Punjab SC Land Development and Finance Corporation), former assembly speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon's son Ravikiran Singh (Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation), Barjinder Singh Brar (Punjab Health Systems Corporation), Sukhwinder Singh Aulakh (Punseed), Vijay Danav (Dalit Vikas Board) and Raj Kumar Atikaaye (Safai Karamchari Welfare Board).

Gurbachan Singh Bachi has been appointed member of the board of directors of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).
