Two drown as car falls into canal in Karnal

Two persons were feared drowned in the wee hours on Thursday after their car fell in Awardhan canal on National Highway-I at Madhuban, near here.

Police said that the ill-fated vehicle was hit by a truck, due to which the car plunged into the canal.

While Krishan, Sanjeev and Surinder managed to swim out of the canal, their co-passengers Mukesh and Naveen were drowned.

Meanwhile, police had deployed teams of divers to search for the bodies but the same had not been traced till the filing of report this evening.

All five were professional photographers and were returning home in Karnal after an assignment at a wedding function in Gurgaon.
