The Punjab Police revealed how radical Khalistani preacher Amritpal Singh managed to give the cops a slip and evaded arrest. Now, an eyewitness has also claimed to be aware of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief's presence in the Nangal Ambian village in Jalandhar district.
“We got to know today morning when the police came that Amritpal along with his associates was here in the village on Mar 18. He changed clothes at local gurudwara, had food&then went away on motorcycle. Babaji who's being questioned by police now had admitted that Amritpal came here”, the eyewitness told news agency ANI.
Earlier in the day, CCTV footage had surfaced showing the entire sequence of events of how the radical preacher managed to dodge the police. He had fled Mehatpur in a Maruti Brezza car and headed to Nangal Ambian village wherin he stayed in a Gurudwara. He changed his attire and switched from the SUV to a motorcycle and fled the village.
“Amritpal Singh has not been arrested yet. We are making all efforts to arrest him. We're hopeful that we'll arrest him soon...It is difficult to say that. Punjab Police is receiving full cooperation from other states and central agencies”, Punjab's inspector general of police (IGP) Sukhchain Singh Gill said at the presser. An arrest warrant has been issued against the Khalistani sympathiser and four people who helped him escape have been arrested.

{{/usCountry}}“Those arrested for helping Amritpal to flee from Mehatpur include Manpreet Manna (28 years) of village Nawan Killa of Shahkot, Gurdeep Singh Deepa (34) of village Bal Naun in Nakodar, Harpreet Singh Happy (36) of Kotla Nodh Singh village of Bullowal Hoshiarpur and Gurbhej Singh alias Bheja of village Goindara of Faridkot”, the senior Punjab police official said.
