A 26-year-old activist of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Arshdeep Singh Ramditte Wala, died and five other BJP leaders sustained injuries after their vehicle collided with a truck in Mansa district on Wednesday.
The accident took place near Kot Dhamru village on the Mansa-Sirsa road when they were returning after attending the BJP’s ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’.
Police sources said that six people were travelling in a car when their vehicle collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
Vinod Kali, vice-president of BJP’s Mansa district unit, suffered serious injuries and was referred to a private multi-speciality hospital in Ludhiana.
Mohit Singla, Navdeep Singh, Bhim Singh and Sunil were rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, with multiple injuries. Navdeep is the younger brother of the deceased.
Kewal Singh Dhillon, president of the Punjab BJP unit, expressed grief over the death of party activist Arshdeep Singh in the road mishap.
He met the deceased’s family members in Mansa and visited the four injured party workers receiving treatment at AIIMS, Bathinda.
