Punjab director general of police Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday inaugurated the renovated state-of-the-art integrated command and control centre of the Bathinda police.
Built at ₹2.75 crore, the upgraded facility integrates 112 emergency response, city-wide CCTV surveillance with 282 cameras at 59 strategic locations, wireless connectivity, video analytics, and real-time crime-monitoring data.
The DGP said that the new centre would strengthen the police’s technical capability in Bathinda and serve as a force multiplier.
Yadav was in Bathinda to review preparations for the upcoming Independence Day, with senior officials from the Bathinda police range in attendance.
He reviewed the policing plan, force deployment, security at celebration venues and public congregation points, and preparedness to deal with any eventuality.
Earlier in the day, the DGP held similar security review meetings with officials of the Ferozepur and Faridkot police ranges.
As part of ground-level verification, Yadav checked a police naka at Talwandi Bhai in Ferozepur district.
The DGP directed senior officers to maintain heightened vigilance, step up patrolling and ensure a swift and coordinated response to any security challenge.
The meetings were attended by senior police officers, including IGP Faridkot Range Nilambari Jagdale, DIG Bathinda Range Harjeet Singh, DIG Ferozepur Range Snehdeep Sharma and SSPs of the districts under the two ranges.
