Ludhiana: Man kills friend on suspicion of illicit relations with wife

Police arrested all the three accused and recovered a baseball bat and motorcycle used in the crime and mobile phone of the victim

Suspecting him of developing physical relations with his wife, a Sidhwan Bet resident with the help of his two aides allegedly thrashed his friend to death on Janetpura village Road, police said on Sunday.

Hours after the murder on Saturday, the police arrested all the three accused. The police also recovered a baseball bat and motorcycle used in the crime and mobile phone of the victim.

The arrested accused have been identified as Gurjit Singh alias Geeta of Sidhwan Bet, Inderjit Singh alias Babla of Salempura village and Amrik Singh alias Bobby of Madhepur village.

The FIR was lodged on the statement of Binder Kaur of Malsihan Bajan village of Sidhwan Bet, wife of the victim Resham Singh.

Binder said that her husband and Gurjit were close friends and frequent visitors to each other’s houses. Gurjit used to suspect Resham of developing illicit relations with his wife. Binder said that Gurjit had complained about it to her also, alleging that Gurjit along with his aides had murdered her husband due to this suspicion.

When she reached there, she saw that Gurjit along with his two aides was assaulting her husband with a baseball bat, while her husband was lying injured on the road. When she raised an alarm, the accused fled from the spot leaving her husband injured.

Binder said that she rushed her husband to the government hospital in Sidhwan Bet with the help of locals. He was referred to government hospital in Jagraon and from there referred to Ludhiana civil hospital. On way to Ludhiana, he succumbed to injuries.

The SSP said that the police lodged a murder case against the accused and arrested them. The accused were trying to escape from the city.
