The Haryana government on Wednesday said that during the first five months of the 2026-27 fiscal, it collected ₹24,662 crore in state goods and service tax (SGST) as against ₹19,174 crore during the previous fiscal’s corresponding period, registering a 29% growth. An official spokesperson said this was higher than the 16% national growth rate.
The spokesperson said the state government in August 2026 generated revenue of ₹4,982 crore from SGST (post-settlement), compared to ₹4,119 crore in the corresponding month of the previous year. This represents a growth of 21%, higher than the national average growth rate of 13% for August 2026.
The spokesperson said Haryana has 6.63 lakh GST taxpayers, accounting for less than 4% of the total GST taxpayers in the country. Despite this, the state contributes approximately 7.7% to the country’s total GST collections, comprising SGST, Central goods and services tax (CGST) and integrated goods and services tax (IGST), the spokesperson said.
