The traffic police appealed to the public to park their vehicles only at designated parking lots during the Iconic Week of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, which are being organised by the UT administration from Friday to Sunday.
For parking in Sector 17, there are eight designated parking lots including the lot in front of the municipal corporation office, adjoining Lyon’s restaurant, the multi-level parking, a parking area adjoining the RBI bank, near general post office, adjacent to the Neelam theatre, in front of Fab India and Hotel Taj.
In Sector 9 there are three designated parking spots including the parking areas on the backside of Chandigarh and Punjab police headquarters and the Madhya Marg market parking. A pick and drop spot has also been made near Ras Frontier in Sector 17.
Traffic police will take action against wrongly parked vehicles and towing teams will be active during the event. In case your vehicle is towed you can contact the traffic helpline 1073.
A three-day-long cultural event will be organised at the open ground, opposite the museum and art gallery, Sector 10, which will include various activities, installations of various stalls, exhibitions, an amusement park and musical nights.
