The Division Number 6 police arrested a labourer for raping a six-year-old daughter of one of his neighbours in Sherpur on Wednesday.
An FIR has been lodged following the complaint of the mother of the victim. In her complaint, the woman stated that she along with her husband and daughter is living in a rented accommodation in the labour quarters.
She added that on Wednesday she went to the railway station to book tickets. Her husband was at work while her daughter was alone at home.
When she returned home, she did not find her daughter there and started looking for her. Meanwhile, she heard cries of her daughter coming from the room of the accused. When she reached there, she was shocked to see the accused raping her daughter. She raised an alarm following which the accused escaped from the spot.
She immediately informed the police. ASI Savinder Singh, who is investigating the case, said that the police lodged an FIR against the accused under Section 376AB of the IPC and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused and arrested him.
