To apprise the police department of problems being faced by the industrialists and doctors pertaining to the traffic and law-and-order situation in the industrial hub, the Police Public Foundation (PPF) organised a meeting between representatives of industry and police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar at a hotel on Pakhowal Road on Thursday evening.
Representatives of different industrial sectors including textile, bicycle, auto parts and sewing machines participated in the meeting and 60 doctors were also honoured for their service during the pandemic.
The industrialists raised issues like the security and safety of workers in industrial areas, chronic issue of traffic jams across the city and drug menace etc. Industrialist and vice-president of PPF, Mridula Jain, said, “We have sought a solution to the road blockades by protesters in the industrial hub. A lot of time is wasted due to the traffic jams. A place has to be designated and after that, police should act strictly to block the roads during the protest.” The industrialists stated that the police were also urged to intensify patrolling especially in industrial areas and focal points to stop the incidents of snatching from labourers/workers. Prominent industrialists including SC Ralhan, SS Bhogal and Avtar Bhogal participated in the event.
Knitwear and Textile Club president Vinod Thapar stated that industrialists demanded a solution for the problem of traffic jams, especially near Preet Palace in the morning when they leave for work. Further, the police were urged to intensify patrolling, especially in old city areas including Gandhi Nagar and Dal Bazar, as snatchings have been recently reported from the areas even during the day.

Various issues were raised and Bhullar assured that the problems will be solved in the coming time. The doctors also raised concern over the incidents wherein the families or relatives of patients create ruckus in hospitals by levelling false allegations of negligence.”
