The Punjab and Haryana high court has directed the Punjab government to explain why the result for the recruitment examination for multi-purpose health workers (female) was never published.
While acting on a petition by one Jasvir Kaur and others from Bathinda, the bench of justice Sandeep Moudgil has sought response on the plea by September 1.
The 800 posts were advertised in September 2023. Applications were invited in October 2023, followed by the written examination on March 9, 2024, but the merit list/result was never released.
The petition filed on August 7 alleged that the marks secured by certain candidates belonging to the reserved categories were higher than the cut-off marks prescribed for the general category, against which candidates had been appointed.
The entire selection process was undertaken outside the legitimate claim of such candidates, who ought to have been considered against the general category posts, if they had secured marks higher than the general category cut-off, the plea said.
During the hearing on August 11, director health services (female welfare) admitted that no merit list or result was ever published indicating the marks obtained by the candidates.
Dissatisfied with the response, the court has now asked the state government to file “a comprehensive detailed response explaining the reasons as to why the result of the recruitment process was not published, which would result in vitiating the entire selection process”.
