With Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the political movement — Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) — set to return from the US to participate in the Jantar Mantar protest on June 6, Panipat-based advocate Sudhir Jakhar, who claims to be the president of the CJP, has decided to support the move.
The proposed protest was announced by Dipke seeking resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak controversy.
The decision to support the protest was taken during a meeting chaired by farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni, convener of Jakhar-led front in Kurukshetra, on Thursday. Charuni said CJP founder Dipke’s move is worth appreciating. “Though I won’t be able to participate in the protest as we’ve a scheduled programme of the farmer union from June 6 to 8 in Haridwar, I have assigned duties of my workers to reach Jantar Mantar to join the protest,” Charuni said.
Jakhar, who applied for the registration before the Election Commission of India (ECI) as a political party on May 29, said that he differs from Dipke’s opinion as the latter calls the CJP just a pressure group.
“There are scores of pressure groups in the country, but no one knows what they have achieved so far. I believe that to bring about a change in the society and the country as a whole, one has to enter politics. There has to be a political movement,” he added.

{{/usCountry}}When asked about his registration request before the ECI, he said, “All documents were submitted last week. The scrutiny of our application will take place after which we will receive message from the ECI.”
Jakhar, 36, is also a farmer activist from Panipat.
