During the hearing on Wednesday, the state government asserted that he is not in police detention and has been admitted to Park Hospital, Patiala, as per his “own wish”.

The counsels for petitioner alleged that some of the farmer leaders went to meet him but were not allowed the meeting. They, however, admitted that the family members have been allowed to meet him.

In view of both the contrary stand taken by the different parties, the high court bench of justice Manisha Batra posted the matter for Thursday and said that it would pass an order after hearing both the parties.

The plea has been filed by Bharti Kisan Union (Doaba) vice-president Gurmukh Singh, who is also a part of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), alleging illegal detention on March 21.

Responding to the plea, the government has maintained that the state is responsible for Dallewal’s healthcare as per a Supreme Court order and in view of the same he has been admitted to Park Hospital, Patiala.
