An elderly dhadi (religious singer) was killed after a tractor-trailer ferrying Hola Mohalla pilgrims crushed him to death near the Dussehra Ground on Ropar Road in Machhiwara on Tuesday.

The victim, Kapur Singh of Kaunke village, was returning home after attending a function at Gurdwara Kirpan Bhet Sahib, when the mishap took place.
The tractor trolley driver, Jugraj Singh of Ajit Gill village of Faridkot, has been arrested.
Assistant sub-inspector Vipan Kumar, who is investigating the case, said that as Kapur Singh reached Ropar Road, the tractor trolley ferrying pilgrims to Gurudwara Charan Kamal Sahib in Machhiwara, hit his motorcycle, causing him to fall on the road and get crushed under the tractor trailer’s tyres. He died on the spot.
Gurdwara Charan Kamal Sahib manager Gurdeep Singh Kang said Kapur Singh was a renowned dhadi.
