Undertrial escapes from Kurukshetra civil hospital

An undertrial, accused in several theft cases, allegedly escaped from Lok Nayak Jai Parkash civil hospital in Kurukshetra on Saturday.

He was identified as Satinder Singh, a resident of Kurukshetra.

Singh was accused in over seven cases of theft and snatching registered in Karnal, Ambala and Kurukshetra.

Police said a case was registered at Thanesar Sadar police station and he was sent to district jail.

Satinder reportedly attempted to commit suicide on Friday inside jail after which he was transferred to the prison ward of the civil hospital and given treatment.

On Saturday morning, he exited the ward on the pretext of going to the washroom with a cop, but managed to escape.

CCTV footage of the hospital premises shows him going to the washroom and then escaping from the emergency ward.

A police spokesperson said a case has been registered against him and multiple teams have been formed to trace and apprehend him.
