"Globalisation is here to stay and cannot be avoided. We have to find a way to make it work for everybody but there is nothing one can do to stop it," Chanda said while addressing the session on "Evolution of Globalisation" on the first day of the two day

Chanda agreed there were challenges like the widening gap between haves and have nots which the current form of globalisation has to answer. "The new globalizers are the consumers and just like the pre-historic man who discovered the monsoon wind to get to India faster, it is technology that has emerged as today's monsoon wind," he said.

"However we have seen the gap between those who have the technology and those who dont, widen and that has to be bridged. Further there are other challenges like cultural and environmental for which a solution has to be found," he added.
