: The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the creation of 1,354 regular posts for 126 newly constructed and upgraded government secondary schools set up under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, according to an order issued by the secondary education department.
The order was issued by additional chief secretary Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma. It covers 68 government inter colleges and 58 government high schools across the state.
The sanctioned posts include 68 principals, 58 headmasters, 680 lecturers, 406 assistant teachers (LT grade) and 142 junior assistants. These posts will be distributed among 59 government inter colleges offering classes 6 to 12, nine upgraded inter colleges offering classes 11 and 12, and 58 government high schools offering classes 9 and 10.
For the 59 government inter colleges, the government has approved 59 principal posts, 590 lecturer posts, 413 LT-grade assistant teacher posts and 118 junior assistant posts.
Principals and lecturers will be appointed through a mix of direct recruitment and promotion. LT-grade assistant teachers will be recruited through the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), while junior assistants will be recruited through the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).
The nine upgraded government inter colleges will receive nine principal posts, 90 lecturer posts and nine junior assistant posts. Their recruitment process will broadly follow the same pattern as that prescribed for the other government inter colleges.

Headmasters will be appointed through promotion, while LT-grade assistant teachers will be recruited through the UPPSC and junior assistants through the UPSSSC.
The order stated that the creation of the posts and the recruitment process had received the concurrence of the finance department. It directed the secondary education authorities to complete the necessary action within the stipulated time.
The schools covered under the order are located in several districts, including Bareilly, Azamgarh, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Sonbhadra, Moradabad, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur and Sultanpur, among others.
