In-laws kill 31-year-old woman over monetary dispute; 2 held
According to the police, after the trio realised that the woman was dead, Akbar – the father-in-law of the victim, Ayesha Sayyed, 31 – consumed poison to prove that the murder was in self-defence. He claimed that Ayesha fed him the poison. Currently, Akbar is in the hospital and will be arrested soon after he is discharged.
Mumbai: A 31-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her in-laws over a monetary dispute on Thursday night in Malwani. Three people were booked, of which two were arrested in the matter on Friday. The accused have been identified as Gauri Sayyed, 40, Akbar Sayyed, 54 and Rukhya Sayyed, 70.
According to the police, after the trio realised that the woman was dead, Akbar – the father-in-law of the victim, Ayesha Sayyed, 31 – consumed poison to prove that the murder was in self-defence. He claimed that Ayesha fed him the poison. Currently, Akbar is in the hospital and will be arrested soon after he is discharged.
The complainant, Irfan Sayyed, 32, said that his family members, including his grandmother, assaulted his wife, Ayesha, said a police officer, adding, “A resident of Abdul Hamid Road in Malwani, Sayyed was staying with Ayesha separately, while his father Akbar, his sister Gauri and his grandmother Rukhya stayed at a different place nearby.”
Shekhar Bhalerao, senior police inspector of Malwani Police Station, said that a year ago Akbar had given ₹10 lakh loan to his son and daughter-in-law to construct a house in the area.
“However, Sayyed was unable to return the money. On Thursday, Akbar had asked his son to return the money which led to an argument between Akbar and Ayesha,” he said. “Around 10pm, Ayesha was in the locality when Gauri suddenly pushed her. Ayesha then went to Akbar’s house to confront Gauri.”

We rushed Akbar to the Oscar Hospital, Kandivali, where he was admitted for consuming rat poison.”
