The certification provides a globally recognised framework for managing assets throughout their lifecycle and enables organisations to balance asset performance, operational risks and lifecycle costs, the DMRC said in a statement on Sunday.

The achievement marks a move from conventional maintenance practices towards a system focused on managing the performance, risk, cost and long-term value of assets in line with organisational objectives, it said.

The DMRC achieved the certification in record time after strengthening its asset management framework. This included enhancing its Strategic Asset Management Plan , aligning asset management objectives with organisational priorities, strengthening risk assessment and lifecycle controls, and undertaking training and capacity-building programmes for personnel.

The system is continuously monitored through key performance indicators, audits and management reviews, according to the DMRC.

Its responsibilities include the safe, reliable and efficient management of critical assets such as rolling stock, traction, signalling, telecommunications, stations, lifts, escalators, tracks and civil infrastructure, it stated.

The ISO 55001:2024 certification further strengthens the DMRC's focus on safety, reliability, efficiency and sustainability by integrating these objectives into a globally benchmarked asset management system, it said.

The achievement also sets a benchmark for structured and lifecycle-based asset management in India's urban rail sector and demonstrates the DMRC's ability to provide metro operations and maintenance and asset management expertise beyond Delhi-NCR, the statement mentioned.

The certification is also expected to contribute to the adoption of globally aligned asset management practices across India's expanding urban rail network, it added.
