The development comes after a delegation of over a dozen prominent builders from the city met the newly-appointed police commissioner Sanjay Pandey on Wednesday evening.

The top cop had called a meeting with the builders after he received multiple complaints from citizens about construction work contributing to noise pollution in the city. He also received several complaints from citizens on the Facebook Live that he held on Sunday.

After the meeting, Pandey tweeted, “To keep #noiseundercontrol In Mumbai met developers in city. Agreed to have construction only between 6 am to 10pm. Noise levels only under 65 decibels. Display boards indicating timings and decibel levels at all sites. We will check noncompliance. @MumbaiPolice”.

A statement released by the police department said that the commissioner has given them a four-pointer to prevent noise pollution.

The uniform of the guards posted at the construction site should not be similar to traffic police’s uniform and they should be posted only at the construction site and not on the main roads. The developers should put boards at the construction site displaying working hours, the police stated.

“Builders present in the meeting with the police commissioner agreed to the instructions and assured full cooperation,” stated DCP Sanjay Latkar in a statement.
