Noida Sector 78: Security guard held for sexually harassing a woman inside lift

In the FIR she said, “On March 30 around 7.45 pm, when I entered an elevator to reach my floor, a security guard entered as well, and inside the lift, the guard sexually harassed me.”

Noida: A 50-year-old security guard of a high-rise building in Noida Sector 78, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sexually harassing a 24-year-old woman inside an elevator, said police, adding that a case has been registered at the Sector 113 police station.

A police officer, part of the investigation, requesting anonymity, said, “As she entered the elevator, the guard, who was deployed at her tower, allegedly sexually harassed her while both were travelling towards her floor. Police said the victim, originally from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, resides at a rented accommodation in a high-rise.

In the FIR, a copy of which is with HT, she said, “On March 30 around 7.45 pm, when I entered an elevator to reach my floor, a security guard entered as well, and inside the lift, the guard sexually harassed me.”

A police officer, part of the investigation, requesting anonymity, said, “As she entered the elevator, the guard, who was deployed at her tower, allegedly sexually harassed her while both were travelling towards her floor. The man also said to her ‘you are like my daughter’.”

“Following the incident, the woman informed her family and society management about the incident,” added the officer.

“Investigation revealed that the suspect used to misbehave with women in the past as well but no complaint against him was received so far,” the officer cited above said.
