Gujarat: 5 killed, 6 injured in Kalol after bus runs over crowd
Police said that the state-run bus was hit by a speeding private bus from behind leading to the accident, adding a complaint has been lodged against the driver of the private bus for reckless driving
At least five people were killed and six others injured on Wednesday morning in Kalol town of Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district after a Gujarat State Regional Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus ran over the commuters waiting for the bus, police said.
The accident took place around 7.30am at a local bus stop in Kalol town, they said.
Police said that the state-run bus was hit by a speeding private bus from behind leading to the accident, adding a complaint has been lodged against the driver of the private bus for reckless driving.

“A crowd was waiting for the bus when the GSRTC bus driver lost control after his vehicle was hit by a private bus. The incident took place at Ambika Nagar in Kalol town,” said an official at Kalol police station.
Police have identified the deceased as Sharda Jagaria, 50, a resident of Gopalnagar in Kalol, Balwant Thakor, 45, a resident of Piyaj village in Kalol, Dilipsinh Vihol, 48, a resident of Isand in Kalol, Parth Patel, 22, a resident of Panchwati in Kalol and Savan Darji, 21, a resident of Kalol.
Apart from the five casualties, six people sustained injuries and were taken to a government hospital for treatment, police said, adding that the bodies of the deceased were sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
