A 21-year-old man died at a private hospital in Pune on Monday, days after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident on the Jejuri-Nira road near the Nira river bridge.
The deceased has been identified as Sarthak Chumbalkar of Pooja Niwas in Katraj. According to the police, the accident occurred near the Nira river bridge on August 4.
Police said Chumbalkar was riding his motorcycle towards Nira when he met with an accident.
“As per preliminary information, Sarthak collided with an unidentified vehicle from behind. He was initially shifted to a hospital in Saswad and was later referred to a private hospital in Pune,” said an officer from Jejuri police station.
Chumbalkar was subsequently admitted to Bharati Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
Police said they tried to contact his parents after the accident and initiated the process of registering an FIR on Monday.
