Pune: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has filed a complaint with the Maharashtra Cyber Police, seeking an investigation into viral social media videos alleging large-scale malpractice in the MHT-CET examination, including claims that candidates could secure high percentiles by paying money.
The complaint, filed on Monday, comes after videos circulated on social media alleged that fraud syndicates were demanding ₹13 lakh to ₹15 lakh from candidates to manipulate MHT-CET scores. According to the claims made in the videos and complaints circulating online, the alleged racket promised candidates a 99–100 percentile by using remote desktop software to allow outsiders to answer questions during the examination.
In a statement issued on Monday, the CET Cell said the two viral videos contained allegations that questioned the transparency, credibility and fairness of the MHT-CET examination process.
The examination authority has requested the cyber police to identify those responsible for creating, uploading and circulating the videos, and initiate appropriate legal action, if warranted.
