The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will follow the example of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) in designing metro stations on line number three between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar.

A senior PMRDA officer on anonymity said, “We have already given the contract to an agency to design the metro stations that will reflect the landmarks that pass through the metro line starting from Maan-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. Many IT firms, educational institutes and central offices are located on this corridor.”
All the metro stations on this line are elevated and will cover IT park, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) and National Chemical Laboratory (NCL). Some stations are coming up near Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, Reserve Bank of India’s agricultural college and Agricultural college.
The official said that final designs will be officially announced at a later date.
“Six to seven metro stations would be developed on corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund as many IT companies have shown interest to adopt stations. A final decision would be taken soon,” the official said.
