Sinhgad Road police on Sunday detained five juveniles and seized two motorcycles for allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old boy on Saturday evening.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the incident occurred near the Burger King junction in Manikbaug around 5.30 pm. Four youths arrived on two motorcycles with their faces covered and launched a sudden attack on the teenager.
The victim, a resident of Nanded City, was repeatedly struck with a sharp blade and left bleeding on the road.
Locals and passers-by alerted the police, and the injured boy was rushed to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Vinay Patankar, senior police inspector at Sinhgad Road police station, said the attack stemmed from an old dispute involving youths from Dhayari.
“A minor boy from Nanded City had come to Burger King in Anandnagar. On Saturday evening, he was assaulted due to a previous dispute. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). We have detained five juveniles, and further investigation is underway,” Patankar said.
