A 29-year-old man has been booked for rash and dangerous driving and repeatedly ramming vehicles, including a government one, while allegedly attempting to run over police personnel and others in Khed on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Sukhdev Hanumant Naik, 29, resident of Miraj in Sangli district. The complaint was filed by police constable Niroj Sheikh.
According to police, the incident occurred at 12:30 pm near Vadgaon Ghenand. Naik allegedly rammed his Thar SUV into other vehicles on Moshi-Chakan-road, causing damage and injuring one person.
When traffic police personnel tried to stop him, he allegedly drove the vehicle towards them at high speed in an apparent attempt to hurt them. The personnel managed to move out of the vehicle’s way in time.
The accused then allegedly rammed a government vehicle, turned his Thar around and drove toward the complainant and others again at high speed.
The complainant sustained an injury to his right hand, and the government vehicle was damaged.
Police have arrested Naik and are investigating the circumstances of the incident, including the reason behind his alleged actions.
